It is a legitimate concern: customs can hold shipments, stretch timelines, and break the cold chain. The short answer to "do peptides go through customs in Mexico?" depends on one thing: whether you buy from a national supplier or import from abroad.
A national order does not cross customs
An order that leaves a supplier inside Mexico and is delivered in Mexico is a domestic shipment: it does not cross any customs. It travels by national courier (for example Estafeta, FedEx, or DHL on their domestic services) straight from the warehouse to your address, with no import procedure. It is the route with the least uncertainty in timing and handling.
Importing from abroad does go through customs
An order arriving from another country — shipments from China or the United States are often advertised — does enter through customs. There, inspections, holds, and delays can occur, and the cold chain of the lyophilized material is exposed to transit and storage times you do not control. Importing also adds its own regulatory and documentary complexity.
Why national origin matters for a lab
- Predictable timing: with no customs hold, a domestic shipment arrives in days, not weeks.
- Shorter cold chain: less transit means less thermal exposure for the lyophilized material.
- Traceability and support: a national supplier answers in your language and time zone, and can link the COA to the lot you received.
- Returns and replacement are workable, without an import process in the middle.
In short: with a national supplier, your peptides do not go through customs — they ship within Mexico. That is one of the reasons the origin of the material matters as much as its price when the goal is an intact, documented lot.
